Verifying a checksum on a Mac

I just downloaded Filezilla for my mac. I thought I should verify the checksum before installing the soft.
That’s how I did it :

openssl dgst -sha512 FileZilla_xxx.tar.bz2

and I compared the output with the corresponding hash in the checksum file.
